Chris has over 28 years’ experience advising on US tax matters.
Chris has a particular focus on the complicated issues faced by individuals living and investing across borders. He understands the unique challenges that a US passport can create for those residing outside the United States, where exposure to multiple tax regimes often brings overlapping compliance and reporting obligations.
Chris advises individuals and business owners relocating to the United States, providing pre-immigration planning and guidance on managing residence status. He also supports clients who are leaving the US – whether by navigating the substantial presence rules applicable to resident aliens or by undertaking the more permanent step of surrendering a green card or renouncing US citizenship. He has extensive experience with the international information reporting requirements that form a significant part of the compliance burden for Americans abroad.
Prior to joining HaysMac in 2026, Chris spent four years leading the London office of a top 50 US accounting firm. Earlier in his career, he spent more than 20 years as a dual US/UK tax specialist with several of London’s boutique US tax firms, advising on the combined tax affairs of internationally mobile individuals and families.
Chris is a member at Cheltenham and Sandown Park.
